Fox Dates Channing Tatum Gambit Movie & Shifts Other Dates

Earlier today, 20th Century announced that they had broken the global box office record with $5.5 billion grossed in 2014 and they celebrated by dating a number of new movies, including one anticipated sequel, a spin-off to the company’s most successful superhero franchise, another sequel to an upcoming reboot and much more.

The big news was the announcement that they would be going into production on the much-rumored Gambit spin-off movie introducing Channing Tatum as the X-Men’s popular cajun energy manipulator, giving it a release date of October 7, 2016. (Currently, Universal has the musical comedy Monster High and Warner Bros. has Ben Affleck’s Live by Night on that date.)

The third Untitled Planet of the Apes Movie, the sequel to last summer’s major blockbuster Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, was moved to July 14, 2017, giving them another year to work on that, while The Fantastic Four 2, the sequel to this summer’s reboot of the Marvel superhero team, was moved from that date up to June 2, 2017.

Another anticipated movie is the big screen adaptation of the hit video game Assassin’s Creed, which will now be released on December 21, 2016, the Wednesday before Christmas.

Other release dates announced include Hugh Jackman’s turn as PT Barnum in The Greatest Showman on Earth, directed by Michael Gracey, which will be released on Christmas Day, December 25, 2016. (Four days after Assassin’s Creed.)

The comedy Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates from “Funny or Die” director Jake Szymanski will get a wide release on July 29, 2016, and the adaptation of Charles Martin’s romantic drama The Mountain Between Us, starring Rosamund Pike and Charlie Hunnam, will come out on February 10, 2017.
