The ChubbChubbs are Back!

The characters from the Academy Award-winning ChubbChubbs are back in theaters this Friday. The ChubbChubbs Save Xmas makes its debut on August 8, 2007 at selected theaters (check listings), showing before TriStar Pictures’ Daddy Day Camp.

Having traveled the galaxy since 2003, when The ChubbChubbs! won an Academy Award® for Best Animated Short Film, Meeper and his ChubbChubbs visit Earth in the new Sony Pictures Animation short, The ChubbChubbs Save Xmas. While here, the strange but lovable entourage encounters multiple Emmy Award nominee Jeffrey Tambor (“Arrested Development,” “The Larry Sanders Show”) as Santa Claus.

In this original new ChubbChubbs adventure, the cuddly little aliens with the bottomless stomachs are searching for somewhere to call home. Led by the kind but awkward Meeper, the nicest guy from the planet Glorf, the fanged fuzzballs inadvertently scare the naughtiness out of a budding delinquent as they pinch hit for Santa, and in the process learn that home is more than just a place to live.

The ChubbChubbs Save Xmas was directed by Cody Cameron and produced by Kirk Bodyfelt for Sony Pictures Animation. In addition to Tambor, it features the voices of Brad Simonson returning as Meeper and Jeff Wolverton back as the ChubbChubbs.

Cody Cameron, David Feiss and Jurgen Gross wrote the story, which includes the main characters from Sony Pictures Imageworks’ The ChubbChubbs!, an original story by Jeff Wolverton. Original music is by Ramin Djawadi (“Prison Break,” Open Season).

The ChubbChubbs Save Xmas also is partnered with the original Oscar®-winning The ChubbChubbs! as special features on the Sony Pictures Home Entertainment DVD release of Sony Pictures Animation’s critically acclaimed summer hit Surf’s Up, which goes on sale October 9, 2007, on DVD, Blu-ray and PSP.
