Dwayne Johnson‘s upcoming fantasy film Lizard Music has added another major cast member, with Regina Hall officially joining the project. The Scary Movie star will appear alongside Johnson in the live-action/CGI hybrid adaptation.

Amazon MGM Studios has expanded the cast of Lizard Music by adding Regina Hall, who will star alongside Dwayne Johnson in the upcoming live-action/CGI hybrid adaptation. The casting expands the ensemble for the fantasy adventure as the project continues to take shape under director Benny Safdie, who previously worked with Johnson on the Oscar-nominated drama The Smashing Machine. Similar to their previous film together, Johnson is attached to Lizard Music as both its lead star and a producer.
According to Deadline, Hall has been cast as a friend and co-worker of Johnson’s character, The Chicken Man. She joins an ensemble that also includes Theo Leber, Alicia Silverstone, and Tim Heidecker.
The film is adapted from Daniel Pinkwater’s novel of the same name and follows a young boy, portrayed by Leber, who discovers a hidden doorway leading to a mysterious late-night television broadcast in which lizards perform otherworldly music. His attempt to find the truth introduces him to The Chicken Man and his longtime companion, Claudia, a 111-year-old chicken.
Their search for a hidden society gradually develops into an adventure across unseen worlds as the trio pursues answers together. Safdie wrote the film’s screenplay in addition to directing. The movie is being produced by Scott Stuber, Nick Nesbitt, David Koplan, Safdie, and Johnson.
Hall also recently appeared in the Academy Award-winning One Battle After Another, sharing the screen with Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, and Benicio Del Toro. Lizard Music marks her next major feature following the success of the latest entry in the long-running Scary Movie franchise as she joins Johnson in bringing Pinkwater’s fantasy novel to the screen.
