Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones recently expressed interest in a movie based on the legendary band. His comments come as the four-film The Beatles adaptation continues filming.
Mick Jagger says The Rolling Stones biopic idea ‘interests’ him
Mick Jagger entertains the idea of a The Rolling Stones biopic movie. He revealed he visualized it in a recent interview, but did not disclose details.
While speaking with GQ about his life and career, he said, “Yeah, it interests me. I don’t want to impart it to you, but I know how I see it.” Noting how there are multiple ways of making a biopic, he said that most covered “one small section” of a person’s life, “bookended by some other stuff.”
He subsequently highlighted the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, starring Timothée Chalamet, and the James Brown movie Get on Up, headlined by the late Chadwick Boseman, as notable examples. “You do the moment when Bob went electric,” he shared. “You’d have to think, what are you going to zero in on? And where’s your two years of interest?”
Jagger continued, “I mean that Bob Dylan one was two years, [the] James Brown one that I produced was slightly more.”
Although he has visualized what he wants out of a Rolling Stone biopic, the 82-year-old said he didn’t know which portion of the band’s history he wanted covered, stressing, “It’s a long period.” Furthermore, he also said he had no one in mind to play him in it when asked.
Notably, several actors have played Jagger before. Nick Eversman essayed him in Get on Up. Meanwhile, Stranger Things star Jamie Campbell Bower brought him to life in the Urban Myths episode “Mick & Margaret,” focusing on the British musician’s relationship with Princess Margaret. Luke de Woolfson played Jagger in Stoned. Directed by Stephen Woolley, the biopic followed the suspicious death of the Rolling Stones co-founder Brian Jones.
As of writing, a biopic hasn’t been confirmed. However, fans won’t have to wait long for the band’s next album, Foreign Tongues, dropping on July 10.
