Lex Luthor’s Man of Tomorrow Warsuit Finally Gets Nicholas Hoult’s Verdict

Nicholas Hoult is finally sharing his thoughts on Lex Luthor‘s powerful new war suit. The actor says wearing the iconic armor was one of his biggest hopes when joining the DC film. Fans recently got their first official look at the suit after James Gunn unveiled artwork for the upcoming Man of Tomorrow.

The new warsuit appears set to play a major role in Man of Tomorrow, the next chapter in James Gunn’s growing Superman saga. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Hoult said the armor was something he specifically discussed when he first talked with Gunn about playing Lex Luthor. “I want the war-suit,” Hoult recalled telling Gunn, adding that he wanted to be involved in “some of the action as well.”

Hoult also praised the team behind the practical costume. According to the actor, Legacy Effects built the suit. “The Legacy Effects team are brilliant,” Hoult said. He added that the practical suit was “a dream come true” for him to wear on set.

James Gunn has officially announced Man of Tomorrow. The filmmaker revealed that the movie will arrive in theaters on July 9, 2027. Promotional artwork by Jim Lee showed Lex inside his classic green-and-purple armored suit while Superman stood nearby. Although the warsuit has been a staple of DC comics and animation for decades, this marks its first live-action appearance.

Gunn has previously explained that the project is not a direct sequel to Superman, though it will continue stories involving characters introduced in the film. The movie’s plot remains under wraps, but Hoult’s Lex Luthor will return after the events of Superman, which ended with the villain being taken into custody.

For those not in the know, Superman became the year’s highest-grossing comic book movie with over $618 million worldwide and introduced several new heroes alongside David Corenswet’s Superman, Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane, and Hoult’s Lex Luthor.
