Mike Myers has given a brief and definitive update on Austin Powers 4. The Austin Powers movies are some of the most celebrated comedies of all time.
The first entry in the satirical spy comedy movie series, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, came out in 1997. The second one, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, followed in 1999, and Austin Powers in Goldmember, the third and most recent entry, debuted in 2002. The films have a considerable fanbase, and there has been plenty of chatter over the years about a potential fourth movie.
Here’s the latest update.
Mike Myers addresses the prospects of Austin Powers 4
Myers was attending Trevor Noah’s World Cup Watch Party when Noah relayed a fan’s question on whether they will see an Austin Powers 4. In response, Myers said simply, Yes,” prompting Noah to observe, “Wow, that was a quick yes.”
This comes after Myers reprised his iconic Dr. Evil character from the movies in a Verizon commercial. Franchise co-stars Seth Green, Rob Lowe, and Mindy Sterling also made appearances in the ad.
Notably, this isn’t the first time Myers has addressed the chances of the fourth movie. Back in 2022, Myers told Today, “I would love to do one. Yeah, yeah, yeah.” He added, “We’ll see. I can neither confirm nor deny the existence or non-existence of such a program, should it exist or not exist.”
Additionally, in 2020, Jay Roach, who directed all three previous movies, kept the hope alive for the fourth installment while confirming that it’s ultimately up to Myers. “I wouldn’t say ‘never’ never, but it does depend on Mike having something that he’s inspired about, and after all these years it hasn’t quite clicked yet,” the filmmaker told Deadline. “But I’m always game for anything he wants to do. He’s a genius, and he helped me get started, and it was a blast.”
At the time of this article’s composition, Austin Powers 4 hasn’t officially revealed a plot, title, or release date.
