Zendaya recently visited the Rakestraw Books store in Danville, California. There, she talked about literature, found a few good reads, and posed with copies of books that are adapted into her upcoming projects. She is set to star in two prominent projects this year, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Dune: Part Three, set to release on July 17 and December 18, respectively.
Zendaya spotted buying books that inspired Dune 3 and The Odyssey
Rakestraw Books took to Instagram to share a photo of Zendaya posing with the books behind her upcoming projects, The Odyssey by Homer (Emily Wilson translation) and Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert. The caption stated that the actress stopped by their store to chat about literature and do some book shopping. They helped her find some good book options while also being delighted by the recommendations she provided.
Expressing gratitude for her visit, the store wrote, “Thank you, Zendaya for being so lovely and for your love of books and support of independent bookstores! She was kind enough to take a fun photo with a couple of her book-to-movie adaptations for us!”
In a previous interview with Empire Magazine, Nolan revealed that one of the translations of The Odyssey he read was by Emily Wilson before making the movie. He said, “I think it’s the Emily Wilson translation that begins, ‘Tell me about a complicated man.’ The genius of the character, the cleverness, the inventiveness of him, that was a huge part of what interested me. He’s not just a soldier. He’s an amazing strategist, a very wily person.”
Earlier, Javier Bardem, who plays Stilgar in the Denis Villeneuve-helmed upcoming movie, based on Dune Messiah, spoke about it. He claimed that the movie’s ending won’t be similar to the book’s conclusion while teasing about how grand it would be. “Those who have read the book know the Messiah book, but it’s beyond that. It’s going to be a feast. It’s going to be something extraordinary,” he told Entertainment Tonight.
