Mortal Kombat 2 Star Hits Back at Street Fighter’s Andrew Schulz Comments

Lewis Tan, who will be reprising his Mortal Kombat role of Cole Young in the upcoming Part 2, has replied to Andrew Schulz’s jibe at the video game adaptation. In a recent interview, he slammed Schulz for ridiculing Mortal Kombat at last year’s Game Awards before admitting that he would love to strike a “good rivalry” with the Street Fighter actor.

During a recent discussion, the Cobra Kai star mocked the comedian for his Mortal Kombat comments by stating that the latter was not even a real actor.

Lewis Tan started off by showering Mortal Kombat with heavy praise on The Brandon Davis Show. “When you watch the fights, and you watch even the drama in the second one, it’s so Mortal Kombat, it’s so tuned in. Probably the best fight film of the year, I’d say,” he said. Tan then alluded to the upcoming Street Fighter movie, adding, “Well, there’s one other contender.”

Firing a shot at Andrew Schulz, the actor/martial artist said, “Andrew Schulz is the last person that should be talking shit on that stage. Obviously not a fighter, not even really an actor. We heard it.”

Tan’s fiery response comes after Schulz, who will portray Dan Hibiki in the forthcoming Street Fighter flick, playfully dissed the Mortal Kombat 2 cast during the Game Awards in December 2025.

“There’s another game out there. They also flew from around the world to be here because they appreciate you, so give it up for the whole cast of Mortal Kombat 2…I’m just kidding, they didn’t come. They don’t care about you, they only care about money. We care about money and you. Street Fighter forever,” Schulz quipped (via Shack News).

Despite their back-and-forth shots, no love seems to have been lost between Lewis Tan and Andrew Schulz. “I mean, yeah. Let’s go, bro…I love a good rivalry, so let’s go…I saw the trailer, the trailer looked awesome…We’ll see what’s up. Numbers don’t lie,” Tan exclaimed.

Mortal Kombat 2 is currently on track to hit theaters on May 8, 2026. Meanwhile, the Street Fighter adaptation will premiere on the big screen on October 16, 2026.
