Spider-Man Drops But Stays on Top

The ComingSoon.net Box Office Report has been updated with studio estimates for the weekend. Sony’s action threequel Spider-Man 3 was able to hold off four new movies in wide release as it remained on top with $60 million, a whopping 60% drop from its record-setting opening weekend. Fox Atomic’s horror sequel 28 Weeks Later and the Universal drama Georgia Rule came in second and third place with $10 million and $5.9 million, both underperforming based on expectations. Lionsgate’s Delta Farce starring Larry the Cable Guy, opened in fifth place with $3.5 million, and the Weinstein Company’s The Ex failed to make the Top 10 with just $1.3 million. You can see the full box office estimates of the top 12 films here, and be sure to check back on Monday for final figures based on actual box office.
