Warner Bros. Pictures has hired screenwriter Mark Poirier to pen the untitled Russian bride project set up at Todd Phillips’ eponymous production company, reports Variety.
Based on David Benioff’s 2002 article “Goodbye to Romance,” the storyline revolves around a group of American men who travel through Russia searching for brides.
Poirier wrote 2007 Sundance entry Smart People, starring Dennis Quaid, Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church and directed by Noam Murro. Miramax Films picked up the film at the festival.
E. Max Frye wrote an early script.
