Disney has hired Wild Hogs helmer Walt Becker to direct Link, an action adventure comedy based on a Becker novel published in 1998, says Variety.
Mandeville partners David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman will produce.
The director and the producers will find a writer to adapt the novel, which concerns a paleontologist and maverick scientist who go in search of the missing link.
Disney is also continuing to pursue a sequel to Wild Hogs with Becker; stars Travolta, Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy are all working on deals to return. Brad Copeland, who wrote the original, is penning the sequel.
Becker is scouting his next film, Old Dogs, with Robin Williams in negotiations to join John Travolta.
After that, Becker hopes to tackle Link.
