Niki Caro Directing Dornstein’s Boy

Niki Caro will adapt and direct Ken Dornstein’s memoir The Boy Who Fell Out of the Sky for producer Richard Suckle and Mosaic Media Group’s Charles Roven for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Caro, who directed the critically acclaimed films Whale Rider and North Country, will tell the story of Dornstein’s brother David, who died with 269 others in the 1988 Pan Am Flight 103 airline terrorist bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland.

The film also will follow the story of Ken Dornstein, who learns more about his older brother and comes to terms with the tragedy after discovering hundreds of thousands of words that David, a promising writer, left behind.

Caro, who is at work on the script, will set the film in the present and past through flashbacks.
