Jeff Goldblum Denies Jurassic World Rebirth Return

The Jurassic World franchise is kickstarting a new era with its upcoming entry, Jurassic World Rebirth. As such, the film series is calling it a day on the narrative that featured Chris Pratt in the lead. Despite being the final installment in Pratt’s trilogy, Jurassic World Dominion also helped re-introduce several characters from Steven Spielberg’s 1993 original Jurassic movie. Aside from Sam Neill and Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum‘s Ian Malcolm also made a surprising return to the franchise through Dominion. However, in a recent discussion, Jeff Goldblum has denied the possibility of him featuring in 2025’s Jurassic World Rebirth.

Jeff Goldblum says Ian Malcolm won’t return in Jurassic World Rebirth

The Independence Day star has stated that he is not optimistic about making an appearance in the upcoming Jurassic movie.

Goldblum revealed his views on battling yet another strand of theatrical dinosaurs during an interview with Total Film. While talking about making a possible cameo in Jurassic World Rebirth, the actor stated, “I think Ian Malcolm may have ridden off into the sunset. Maybe.”

Jeff Goldblum also expressed support for the fresh cast of Jurassic World Rebirth. “This next one — my friend, Scarlett Johansson, and my new friend, Jonathan Bailey from Wicked, I think, are taking up the reins,” he said. “And I can’t wait to see what they do. I think that’s a good idea,” Goldblum added.

The Hollywood veteran has appeared in four of the six official Jurassic series released so far. He made his franchise debut in 1993’s Jurassic Park, before coming back for the 1997 sequel, The Lost World. After missing the next two entries, the actor returned in 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, after a hiatus of 21 years. If Jeff Goldblum’s comments about Jurassic World Rebirth are anything to go by, his portrayal of Dr. Ian Malcolm might have come to an end with Dominion.

Jurassic World Rebirth will feature Scarlett Johansson in the leading role, alongside Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali. Gareth Edwards serves as the director of the project, with David Koepp penning the script. Rebirth is currently scheduled to come out in theaters on July 2, 2025.
