Deadpool & Wolverine: Jean Grey Actress Confirms Absence From MCU Sequel

It has been nearly a decade since X-Men films alum Famke Janssen last portrayed Jean Grey in X-Men: Days of Future Past, where she made a brief appearance during a flashforward scene. In a recent interview with Screen Greek, Janssen addressed the possibility of her returning as Jean Grey in Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine.

The Dutch actress has officially confirmed that she won’t be reuniting with former X-Men: The Last Stand co-star Hugh Jackman in the highly-anticipated third installment. “I’m not in [Deadpool & Wolverine]. No. Everybody keeps asking. So, at some point, I was like, ‘Wait, am I in Deadpool, and I just don’t know it yet?’ But, no. I’m not. No, no,” Janssen clarified.

When is the release date for Deadpool & Wolverine?

Set to arrive in theaters on July 26, Deadpool & Wolverine is directed by Shawn Levy from a screenplay written by Ryan Reynolds, Levy Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells. The third installment will also star Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Garner, who are finally coming out of their superhero retirement to reprise their respective iconic Marvel roles as Wolverine and Elektra.

It also features returning cast members Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Rob Delaney as Peter, Stefan Kapicic as Colossus, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio. In addition, The Crown’s Emma Corrin and Succession’s Matthew Macfadyen have also joined the cast to play the roles of Cassandra Nova and TVA agent Paradox, respectively.
