Following Oscar winner Octavia Spencer’s casting, Deadline brings word that Red Rocket’s Simon Rex has also been tapped to star opposite Rose Byrne in the biographical drama film Tow. Production on the upcoming project has already started.
In addition to Spencer and Byrne, Rex will be joining previously announced cast members Ariana DeBose, Dominic Sessa, and Demi Lovato. Besides Tow, he will also next be seen in Zoe Kravitz’s feature directorial debut film Blink Twice, and in the mystery comedy movie Greedy People with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
What is Tow about?
“Tow will follow the true story of Amanda Ogle (Byrne), an unhoused Seattle woman who fought her way out of tow-company hell to reclaim her life and the car that held it all together after receiving a tow bill for $21,634,” reads the synopsis.
Tow is being directed and produced by Stephanie Laing from a screenplay written by Jonathan Keasey, Brant Boivin, and Annie Weisman. This marks Laing’s feature directorial debut. In addition to leading the cast, Byrne is also producing alongside Brent Stiefel, Justin Lothrop, Brian O’Shea, and Danyelle Foord. It is executive produced by Ogle, Keasey, Jonathan Tropper, Josh Ricks, Danny Gusman, Nat McCormick, Giovanna Trischitta, and Kevin Eggers.
