Separate Rooms: Josh O’Connor in Talks to Star in Luca Guadagnino Gay Romance Movie

Josh O’Connor is currently in talks to star in a new drama from director Luca Guadagnino, according to a recent report from Variety.

The film, titled Separate Rooms, is an adaptation of the novel of the same by late Italian writer Pier Vittorio Tondelli. The book follows an Italian writer, Leo, who is mourning his boyfriend’s death.

The novel also focuses on Leo’s travels across different parts of Europe, and is divided into three different parts across their relationship. While the role is not yet officially confirmed, Variety noted that O’Connor has already been studying Italian for the project in the hopes of playing Leo.

O’Connor looks to continue working with Guadagnino

Guadagnino confirmed that the movie was in the works in an interview with Italy’s La Repubblica’s weekly magazine Venerdì this past weekend. The screenplay for the film was written by Francesca Manieri, who also worked with Guadagnino on the HBO-Sky TV series We Are Who We Are.

Currently, no other rumored casting information is available as of now. O’Connor and Guadagnino are no strangers to working together, as Josh is currently set to star in Guadnagnino’s upcoming romantic drama Challengers. In that film, he’ll star alongside Zendaya and Mike Faist.
