Ghoulies Creators Planning New Trilogy in Creature Feature Franchise

Ghoulies Director/Co-Writer Luca Bercovici and Producer/Co-Writer Jefery Levy have obtained the domestic rights to their 1984 B-horror hit and are planning new films.

After a four-film run over a ten-year period and begins with a young man and his girlfriend moving into the man’s old mansion home, where he becomes possessed by a need to control ancient demons.

Ghoulies II picks up a short time after the first movie, a few of the little nasties stow away on an amusement park ride and bring big bucks to a dying fair. The creatures are mad after an attempt to kill them, so the creatures go on a rampage through the fairgrounds, ultimately leading to an explosive conclusion!

Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go to College sees a college teacher bring the little creatures back to his campus, where they proceed to terrorize the faculty and students. Then finally, Ghoulies IV saw the Ghoulies find their way through an open porthole and onto the streets of L.A., creating madness and mayhem as they search for a way to get back home. As the body count rises, it becomes an ultimate battle between a demonic killer, a rule-breaking cop, and our favorite creatures from the netherworld.

Ghoulies Revival Plans Unveiled

Berovci and Levy have a new trilogy planned and detailed their vision in a press release.

”Drawing upon their unmatched expertise and unwavering passion, Levy, Bercovici, and Theo Lemasters are set to unveil a series of projects that will keep audiences wallowing in filthy horror fun for many years to come.

The team is expanding the Ghoulies universe beyond the silver screen with a book series that will plunge readers into the darkest depths of the Ghoulies universe.

Fans can look forward to bringing home a piece of the Ghoulies universe with an exclusive line of figures, apparel, and collectibles for every devotee of the delightfully demonic Ghoulies.

Jefery Levy, Luca Bercovici, and Theo Lemasters are poised to unleash an unparalleled wave of horror fun. Stay tuned as the Ghoulies revival takes the world by storm, redefining fear and fun, with intentions to leave an indelible mark on the horror genre.”

The Ghoulies series has held a place in my horror-loving heart ever since the VHS cover image of one of the creatures coming out of a toilet spawned very vivid nightmares (that didn’t involve toilets, thankfully) for me as a child. Didn’t end up liking the film, though, sadly, but I’m eager to see what the creators can do with a modern take on the slimy little creatures.
