Street Trash Remake Poster is Delightfully Disgusting

A new Street Trash remake poster has emerged for the Scream Box movie directed by Ryan Kruger, and it’s delightfully disgusting.

The reimagining of the 1987 cult classic was announced last year, with Fried Barry director Ryan Kruger helming a modern take he says ”takes place in Cape Town, South Africa where the growing divide between rich and poor has changed the world as we know it”.

This new poster is the first significant update we’ve seen on the project in a good while, and it’s certainly eye-catching.

The poster sees a cop looking just a little bit…gooey. The tagline on the poster, shared by Kruger, says ”Melt the Rich”.

In the original movie by J. Michael Muro, the action was set in New York, and sees a group of hobos melting into multicolored piles of goo after drinking sixty-year-old liquor. At the same time, the psychotic Vietnam War vet who rules the hobo camp snaps and begins killing at random. Two brothers set out to stop the liquor and the killer.

To get a flavor for the kind of absurd crassness in the original, there’s a game of football played with severed genitalia and that’s probably not the most crass or absurd thing in the film.

Cineverse, Bloody Disgusting, and Vinegar Syndrome are teaming for the Street Trash remake, with it heading to the Screambox streaming service. Kruger has shot on location in Cape Town on 35mm. There’s currently no release date for the movie, but the poster does state it’s coming this year.
