George Santos Tells HBO Movie Writer to ‘F— Off’

Former House of Representative member George Santos took to social media to share an interaction between himself and the writer for an upcoming HBO movie based on him.

Santos took to Twitter this week to share a screenshot of a text message he received from writer Mike Makowsky.

In it, Makowsky said that he was hoping to speak with Santos as his intent is to make the upcoming project “faithfully portray the whole political system on Long Island rather than focus on just one person.”

Makowsky went on to say that he wants “to be as fair and accurate as possible and not lean into the crap everyone expects or assumes.” Unfortunately for Makowsky, Santos had no desire to participate and simply responded telling him to “f— off” and never text him again.

Santos movie in the works at HBO

A movie based on Santos’ time in the political system was announced to be in the works at HBO last year. Makowsky will write the project, which is said to be based on Mark Chiusano’s book The Fabulist: The Lying, Hustling, Grifting, Stealing, and Very American Legend of George Santos, which released in November.

Santos was elected to serve as U.S. representative for New York’s 3rd congressional district in 2022, becoming the first openly LGBT non-incumbent elected to Congress as a Republican. However, in 2023, Santos was expelled from Congress for a number of alleged ethical violations, including donor funds being misspent.
