Superman: Legacy Gets New Title, First Look at Suit Revealed

Superman: Legacy director James Gunn has given fans a peek at the film’s suit and revealed that the DC Studios movie has a new title.

On Threads, the filmmaker announced that the title for Superman: Legacy has been changed simply to Superman. In another post, he noted that filming has begun on the DC Universe film and showed off a picture of the new Superman suit — specifically, the “S” symbol with snow on it.

“When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy,” Gunn’s post reads. “By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN. Making our way to you July 2025. Happy Birthday, Clark! UpUpAndAway”

You can see the picture of the suit below:

“Superman tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas,” reads the movie’s official synopsis. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”

Who stars in Superman?

The titular role in Superman is being played by David Corenswet (Pearl, The Politician), while Lois Lane will be played by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan. They’re joined by Nicholas Hoult, Skyler Gisondo, María Gabriela De Faría, Sara Sampaio, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, and more. The superhero movie is set to release theatrically on July 11, 2025.
