Lilo & Stitch Set Photos Unveil First Look at Titular Duo in Live-Action

The first Lilo & Stitch set photos from the production of Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of the iconic 2002 animated movie have finally arrived online.

The photos provided fans with a first look at the live-action version of fan-favorite characters Lilo Pelekai and Stitch, played by newcomers Maia Kealoha and Chris Sanders. The latter has been voicing the beloved dog-like alien since the 2002 film and its television spin-offs.

Who’s involved in the live-action Lilo & Stitch movie?

The live-action Lilo & Stitch movie is being directed by Oscar nominee Dean Fleischer Camp from a screenplay written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright. The ensemble cast also includes Zach Galifianakis as the voice of Dr. Jumba, Billy Magnussen as the voice of Pleakley, Sydney Agudong as Nani, Kaipo Dudoit as David, Courtney B. Vance as Cobra Bubbles, Amy Hill as Tūtū, Tia Carrere as Mrs. Kekoa and Jason Scott Lee. The adaptation is produced by Rideback’s Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, with Ryan Halprin executive producing.

“Lilo is a lonely Hawaiian girl who adopts a small ugly ‘dog,’ whom she names Stitch,” reads the original animated film’s synopsis. “Stitch would be the perfect pet if he weren’t in reality a genetic experiment who has escaped from an alien planet and crash-landed on Earth. Through her love, faith, and unwavering belief in ohana, the Hawaiian concept of family, Lilo helps unlock Stitch’s heart and gives him the ability to care for someone else.”

The original movie featured the voices of Daveigh Chase, Sanders, Carrere, David Ogden Stiers, Kevin McDonald, Rhames, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Lee. It was both a box office and critical success, with a worldwide gross of over $270 million. It also earned an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature.
