Russell Crowe, Rami Malek, and Michael Shannon have all been cast in Nuremberg, a new historical drama written and directed by James Vanderbilt.
Per Deadline, Malek will be playing an American psychiatrist named Douglas Kelley in Nuremberg. The movie, which is based on Jack El Hai’s The Nazi and the Psychiatrist novel published in 2013, will see Malek’s character have to determine whether or not Nazi prisoners are fit to stand trial for the war crimes they committed during World War II.
Who are Russell Crowe and Michael Shannon playing in Nuremberg?
Crowe is playing Hermann Göring, a former German politician and leader of the Nazi party, while Shannon has been cast as Robert H. Jackson, the chief prosecutor of the trials.
Bluestone Entertainment, Walden Media, and Széchenyi Funds are financing the movie, while Vanderbilt, Richard Saperstein, William Sherak, Brad Fischer, Istvan Major, and Paul Neinstein all serve as producers. Executive producers include Frank Smith, Ben Tappan, Cher Hawrysh, Annie Saperstein, Brooke Saperstein, Beau Turpin, Nikolett Barabas, and Béla Hajnal.

Vanderbilt is known for directing and co-writing 2015’s Truth, which starred Cate Blanchett, Robert Redford, and Dennis Quaid. He also worked on the screenplays for 2007’s Zodiac, 2010’s The Losers, 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man, 2013’s White House Down, 2016’s Independence Day: Resurgence, 2022’s Scream, and 2023’s Scream VI.
