Imaginary Trailer Unleashes Blumhouse’s Terrifying Teddy Bear

Blumhouse has revealed the trailer for its next potential horror hit, Imaginary, which sees a teddy bear as the conduit for something evil.

Imaginary Trailer: Give us a Chauncey

The trailer gives us a taste of the sinister story that takes one of the most common childhood practices and turns it into something nasty.

Imaginary is described as an original horror film that taps into the innocence of imaginary friends – and begs the question: Are they really figments of childhood imagination, or is something more terrifying lying just beneath?

When Jessica (DeWanda Wise) moves back into her childhood home with her family, her youngest stepdaughter Alice (Pyper Braun) develops an eerie attachment to a stuffed bear named Chauncey she finds in the basement. Alice starts playing games with Chauncey that begin playful and become increasingly sinister.

As Alice’s behavior becomes more and more concerning, Jessica intervenes only to realize Chauncey is much more than the stuffed toy bear she believed him to be.

Yesterday, Blumhouse released a motion poster featuring Chauncey, and also revealed a short video titled Friends Forever, asking kids about imaginary friends. It’s less creepy than you’d expect. Well…at least at first.

A different trailer for Imaginary ran before Blumhouse’s record-breaking horror hit Five Nights at Freddy’s and required the audience to close their eyes and imagine the horror.

Imaginary stars DeWanda Wise, Tom Payne, Taegen Burns, Pyper Braun, with Veronica

Falcon and Betty Buckley.

It’s directed by Jeff Wadlow (Fantasy Island) and written by Jeff Wadlow, Greg Erb, and Jason Oremland. Jason Blum and Jeff Wadlow are producing.

Imaginary arrives in US theaters on March 8, 2024, from Blumhouse and Lionsgate. It was initially scheduled to be released in February 2024 but was delayed due to the recently-resolved SAG-AFTRA strike.
