What is Varsity Blues?

“At first, backup quarterback Jonathan ‘Mox’ Moxom is nowhere close to being a star athlete,” reads the synopsis. “Perfectly content to stay on the bench, he has no time for coach Kilmer’s win-at-all-cost strategies. But when the starting quarterback is injured, Mox is in the game and confronting the pressures and temptations of gridiron glory. Soon everyone will realize there’s not just a new star quarterback in town, there’s a new kind of hero.”

Varsity Blues was directed by director Brian Robbins. The film starred James Van Der Beek, Jon Voight, Amy Smart, Scott Caan, Ali Larter, Jesse Plemons, and the late Paul Walker. Despite receiving mixed reviews during its original theatrical run, the teen movie eventually went on to become a cult classic.
