Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa & Gerard Butler Join In The Hand of Dante Cast

According to Deadline, leading men Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa, and Gerard Butler have been tapped to star in the upcoming film adaptation of In the Hand of Dante, based on Nick Tosches’ 2003 novel of the same name.

The project centers around an academic who discovers the original version of Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy. This marks Isaac and Momoa’s latest collaboration after starring together in 2021’s Dune.

Who’s involved in In the Hand of Dante?

In the Hand of Dante is being directed by Oscar nominee Julian Schnabel, who is also executive producing along with Martin Scorsese and Isaac. Despite the ongoing actors strike, production has already begun in Italy, since producers were able to acquire an Interim Agreement from SAG-AFTRA. Producers are Jon Kilik, Francesco Melzi d’eril, and Olmo Schnabel. It hails from MeMo Films, TWIN Productions, DreamCrew, Screen Capital / Screen One, and Tribune Pictures.

“It follows the story of the original manuscript for The Divine Comedy emerging in the clutches of a black-market smuggling ring in the dangerous underbelly of New York City, and weary scholar Nick is called by the mob to authenticate it,” reads the synopsis. “Overwhelmed by temptation, Nick defies the mafia and steals the manuscript in a frenzied bid to have it all. He follows a dark and violent path from a metaphorical Hell into Paradise with his love Giulietta, while a parallel tale unfolds.”
