Saw X clip eye trap

Saw X Editor Had Police Called on Him After Neighbors Heard Screaming

Set between the first and second Saw movies, a scam operation fools John Kramer/Jigsaw into believing he’s cancer-free in Saw X, which is now playing in theaters. If you’ve seen the Saw movies before, you know Jigsaw’s not going to let them get away with it. Apparently, editing the torture scenes was so brutal to hear that the neighbors called the police on editor Steve Forn, believing what they heard from his house was real.

You know that a work of fiction is that good when the neighbors start to believe it. According to People, Saw X’s director Kevin Greutert told NME that the film’s editor Steve Forn was in the middle of putting together clips of the eye vacuum scene in post-production. Suddenly, the police showed up on Forn’s doorstep, saying neighbors complained there was screaming coming from his house.

“There was a knock at the door,” Greutert explained. “We have the doorbell [camera] video of the police walking up, [Forn answering the door] and the police saying, ‘The neighbors [have been] calling and saying someone’s being tortured to death in here.’”

Forn confidently told the police that he was just working on a movie. He even went as far as to invite them in so they could see what he was editing. Funnily enough, the cops preferred to take this horror editor’s word for it compared to watching the torture scene.

“The cops started laughing. They said, ‘We want to but, you know, you’re alright.’ It must have been a pretty realistic performance!” joked the Saw X director.

Kevin Greutert continued to say that Steve Forn is a pretty calm guy and probably felt at ease handling the situation. It’s one of those stories everyone can laugh at now.

The Reactions of Saw X Fans Towards the Eye Vacuum Trap Scene

The eye vacuum scene disturbed not only Steve Forn’s neighbors but also social media users. Lionsgate dropped a clip of the horrifying use of the eye trap that gave audiences a sneak peek of what to expect. In the clip, Jigsaw explains that the victim must choose between keeping his eyes in his head or his fingers from breaking. Watching the short clip, which only showed one broken finger before it abruptly cut, still came off as disturbing. My hands were covering my mouth in serious anticipation of what was to come.

Daily Mail posted the reactions people gave on X (formerly known as Twitter) about the gruesome scene. Some fans found it “scary,” and others thought they would feel “sick.” More fans said they’ll feel nervous going into the movie because of this scene. One even went as far as to say, “I have an eye phobia, I’m losing it.”

While many Saw fans felt scared out of their minds watching this clip, other long-time fans had a different opinion. You have half the X users saying this trap is the most “horrific” one they’ve seen in a long time. Then, there’s the other half who believe this is a “surprisingly winnable Saw trap” or “the easiest trap in the franchise.” They believed the choice between saving your eyes or your fingers is a simple one. Audiences will have to see the newly-released horror film in theaters now to know.

Clearly, the actors of Saw X gave very realistic performances if their screams scared the neighbors. Maybe in the future, horror directors should wear earbuds during the editing process to block the outside sound.
