Terms of Endearment 4K Release Date for 40th Anniversary Celebration

Paramount announced on Wednesday that they would be releasing the 1983 classic family comedy-drama Terms of Endearment on 4K Ultra HD for the first time.

When does the Terms of Endearment 4K come out?

The Terms of Endearment 4K release date is set for November 14, 2023, where the film will be released in a special collection that includes a 4K Ultra HD disc made with a transfer from the original camera negative of the film, reviewed and approved by director James L. Brooks, a Blu-ray disc, access to a digital copy of the film, as well as a new interview with Brooks that explores the behind-the-scenes making of the film.

The collection also includes legacy commentary from Brooks, co-producer Penney Finkelman Cox, and production designer Polly Platt. The movie will also come housed in a special case with its own artwork for the movie as well.

Originally released in 1982, Terms of Endearment stars Debra Winger, Shirley MacLaine, Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, Jeff Daniels, and John Lithgow. The film was based on the novel by Larry McMurtry and tells the story of the 30-year relationship between Aurora Greenway (MacLaine) and her daughter Emma (Winger).

The film was a massive success upon its release and was the second-highest-grossing film of 1983. It also received a leading 11 nominations at the 56th Academy Awards and won five; Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (for MacLaine), Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor (for Nicholson). A sequel, The Evening Star, was released in 1996.
