Candy Cane Lane Release Date Set for Amazon’s Eddie Murphy Movie

Amazon Studios has finally announced the Candy Cane Lane release date for its next collaboration with Oscar nominee Eddie Murphy, following 2021’s comedy sequel Coming 2 America. The upcoming holiday movie will be available for streaming on December 1, exclusively on Prime Video.

“I can’t wait for the world to see Candy Cane Lane,” director Reginald Hudlin said in a statement. “I’ve wanted to make a Christmas movie my whole life, but I wanted to do something fresh and surprising. Eddie Murphy and this hilarious cast really bring the funny, it’s super Christmas-y, and it will hit you right in the feels.”

What to expect in Candy Cane Lane?

“This holiday comedy adventure follows a man on a mission to win his neighborhood’s annual Christmas home decoration contest,” reads the synopsis. “After Chris inadvertently makes a deal with a mischievous elf named Pepper to better his chances of winning, she casts a magic spell that brings the 12 Days of Christmas to life, and wreaks havoc on the whole town. At the risk of ruining the holidays for his family, Chris, his wife Carol and their three children must race against the clock to break Pepper’s spell, battle deviously magical characters, and save Christmas for everyone.”

Candy Cane Lane is directed by Reginald Hudlin from a spec script written by Kelly Younger, which was inspired by Younger’s childhood holiday experiences. The film also stars Tracee Ellis Ross, Jillian Bell, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Ken Marino, Nick Offerman, Robin Thede, Chris Redd, Genneya Walton, Madison Thomas, D.C. Young Fly, Riki Lindhome, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Lombardo Boyar, Danielle Pinnock, and Timothy Simons.

It is produced by Murphy as part of his three-picture and first-look film deal with Amazon Studios, along with Brian Grazer, Karen Lunder, and Charisse Hewitt-Webster. It is executive produced by Doug Merrifield.
