Superman: Legacy Casting Update: Who Is Testing for Clark Kent and Lois Lane

Is it a bird? A plane? No — it’s a new Superman: Legacy casting update.

Warner Bros. and DC Films are close to finding the stars of James Gunn‘s new superhero film, Superman: Legacy. This film “tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas,” the official synopsis reads. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”

According to Deadline, the first in-person tests with WB execs and DC heads Gunn and Peter Safran will take place around Father’s Day weekend. Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet and Tom Brittney are expected to test for Clark Kent/Superman. Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan and Phoebe Dynevor likely test for Lois Lane.

Casting for Lex Luthor and Jimmy Olsen will likely occur after Kent and Lane.

When is the Superman: Legacy release date?

The film is expected to release on July 11, 2025, by Warner Bros. Pictures.

It will be the first film in the DC Universe and the third installment of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. It will come after Creature Commandos and Waller — two original web TV shows that will premiere on Max in 2024.
