Ocean’s Eleven Prequel Production Start Date Revealed for Margot Robbie-Led Movie

According to Production List, Warner Bros.’ untitled Ocean’s Eleven prequel production has been scheduled to begin later this month on June 30. The listing also confirmed that filming will be take place in France. The newest heist comedy will be led by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, who are also leading one of this year’s most highly-anticipated movies in the form of Greta Gerwig’s live-action Barbie movie.

Who’s Involved in the Ocean’s Eleven Prequel?

Set in1960s Europe, the untitled Ocean’s Eleven prequel will be directed by Jay Roach from a screenplay written by Carrie Solomon. The project is being produced by Gary Ross, Josey McNamara, Michelle Graham, Tom Ackerley, and Olivia Milch.

The upcoming film is reportedly a remake of the original 1960 film which was directed by Lewis Milestone. It starred the members of the famous Rat Pack, including Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop. The film was also led by Emmy and Golden Globe-winning veteran actress Angie Dickinson.

In the early 2000s, Steven Soderbergh directed the remake of Ocean’s Eleven which also featured a star-studded ensemble led by George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon. Due to its box-office success, it was followed by three more installments, including the spin-off Ocean’s 8, which featured Sandra Bullock as Debbie Ocean, the sister of Clooney’s Danny Ocean. The franchise currently has a combined worldwide gross of over $1 billion at the box office.
