Apple Original Films has released official photos for The Beanie Bubble, the upcoming comedy-drama starring Elizabeth Banks and Zach Galifianakis. The film is scheduled to make its debut in select theaters on July 21, followed by its Apple TV+ debut on July 28.
The Beanie Bubble photos provide a first look at the main cast including Banks and Galifianakis’ characters. It centers around origins of the stuffed toy line called the Beanie Babies, which became popular during the 1990s.
What to Expect in The Beanie Bubble?
Based on Zac Bissonnette’s 2015 novel The Great Beanie Baby Bubble, the film is directed by Kristin Gore and Damian Kulash Jr. from a screenplay Gore wrote. Joining Banks and Galifianakis are Sarah Snook (Succession), Geraldine Viswanathan (Blockers), Kurt Yaeger (Sons of Anarchy), Carl Clemons-Hopkins (Hacks), and Tracy Bonner.
“Why did the world suddenly treat stuffed animals like gold? Ty Warner was a frustrated toy salesman until his collaboration with three women grew his masterstroke of an idea into the biggest toy craze in history,” reads the synopsis. “The Beanie Bubble is an inventive story about what and who we value, and the unsung heroes whose names didn’t appear on the heart-shaped tag.”
The film is produced by Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, and Karen Lunder, with Galiafinakis and Douglas S. Jones also executive producing.
