Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania Director on Introducing Kang

Jonathan Majors Heavily Inspired the Look of MCU’s Kang the Conqueror

Jonathan Majors arrived as Kang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the recently released Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. According to the folks at Marvel Studios, the actor informed a lot about the character, as well.

In a new behind-the-scenes look at the film from Marvel Entertainment, Marvel Studios’ Andy Park and conceptual designer Constantine Sekeris spoke about translating the comics into the movie.

According to them, their first look was at Kang’s first appearance in the comics by Jack Kirby, which the folks at Marvel Studios adapted into the film with the green and purple colorway and blue helmet.

The duo also talked about Majors’ appearance in the film, and how they didn’t want to cover up too much of the actor’s face, resulting in a few different potential looks. With Marvel Studios not wanting to “lose the performance” by Majors, the team eventually settled on a look that allowed Majors’ Kang to have a “blue” face while still retaining Majors’ actual face.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania was once again directed by Peyton Reed from a screenplay written by Jeff Loveness. It is now playing in theaters.
