Morbius Concept Art Shows Early Looks at Jared Leto's Character

Morbius Concept Art Shows Early Alternate Costume Designs

Over the last week, concept art of how Jared Leto’s Morbius may have looked has made its way online, courtesy of illustrator Darrell Warner.

On his Instagram page, Warner has been sharing a handful of pieces of concept art for different aspects of the character. In one image, a mechanism for delivering plasma into Morbius’ arm can be seen, while another shows a more detailed look at some of the early concepts for a suit that Morbius would wear. Other images also show off more of what Morbius could have looked like while transforming.

Check out a few of the images below, and the rest of them over on Darrell Warner’s Instagram page:

Based on the character created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane in 1971, Morbius saw the introduction of Jared Leto as Marvel’s anti-hero Morbius the Living Vampire. Joining him were Matt Smith (Doctor Who) as Milo, Adria Arjona (Good Omens) as Martine Bancroft, Jared Harris (The Crown) as Morbius’ mentor Dr. Emil Nicholas, and Tyrese Gibson (Fast and the Furious) as Simon Stroud, while Michael Keaton reprised his role as Adrian Toomes/ Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming.

“One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius,” reads the synopsis. “Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil — or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?”

Morbius was directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) from a script by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama.
