According to the report, it’s currently unclear when the project could happen, or even if Levy will direct the project himself. Up next for the director is the highly anticipated Deadpool 3 for Marvel Studios, which is currently set for a November 8, 2024 release. He’s also set to help produce the last batch of episodes of the Netflix series Stranger Things, as his production company 21 Laps has been working on the series.

As far as his Star Wars project goes, no real information is available as of now. However, it is the latest in a myriad of reports that Lucasfilm is currently getting ready to return Star Wars to the big screen. A new film from director Taika Waititi is in the works, as are films by prolific writer Damon Lindelof and director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige is also said to be developing his own Star Wars project as a producer, although none of these projects have any concrete release dates as of yet.

Levy’s latest project was the 2022 Netflix film The Adam Project, starring Ryan Reynolds, Mark Ruffalo, and Walker Scobell. Prior to that, he also directed the 2021 film Free Guy, which also starred Reynolds, as well as every entry in the hit comedy franchise Night at the Museum. Alongside Deadpool 3, Levy is also currently developing the limited drama series All the Light We Cannot See for Netflix, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name by Anthony Doerr.
