Speaking to CinemaBlend ahead of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever‘s release, Marvel Studios VP of Production & Development Nate Moore was asked when the sequel takes place. While he couldn’t exactly remember the year the film is set in, he did have a general idea of where the film slots in against other MCU films, giving fans a better idea of the timeline.

“This movie clearly happens after Spider-Man: No Way Home and Eternals,” Moore said. “I think it probably happens, potentially, concurrent with Thor: Love and Thunder. New Asgard does exist in our film, and almost concurrent with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which is coming out in February or March.”

Given the fact that both Spider-Man: No Way Home and Eternals have massive consequences for the entirety of the MCU, it will be interesting to see if the Black Panther sequel addresses them in any way. Of course, with the film also focusing on the bigger events happening in Wakanda, it’s unknown just how much time the movie will spend talking about other happenings in the MCU.

The sequel sees the return of most of its original main cast, including Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Angela Bassett as Ramonda, Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Winston Duke as M’Baku, and Florence Kasumba as Ayo. Joining them are franchise newcomers Tenoch Huerta (Narcos: Mexico) as Namor, Michaela Coel (I May Destroy You) as Aneka, Mabel Cadena as Namora, and Alex Livinalli as Attuma.
