Hugh Jackman is Ready to Have the Time of His Life in Deadpool 3

Hugh Jackman is set to make his highly anticipated return in 2024’s Deadpool 3, and ahead of that, the actor has already begun preparing for the role and knows he’ll have a good time when filming begins.

“I can tell you, I’m going to have the time of my life,” Jackman said during a recent interview with AP Entertainment on his upcoming return to the character. “I can tell you that I’ve started back at the gym and I’m eating a lot and I feel bad for the cast of Music Men, the amount of protein shakes I’m having. But it’s a lot of fun. It’s been five years, and I really never thought I’d come back, and I’m really, really excited about it. Actually, I do know a bit about the script, but I’m not going to tell you.”

Jackman went on to note that despite being an older Wolverine, Logan won’t be any gentler in his old age. In fact, Jackman joked, he would be taking as many shots at Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool as possible in the upcoming third entry.

“There’s no choice. He’s definitely the angry and acerbic, grumpy … and he’s gonna take a lot of free shots at Ryan Reynolds, let me tell you. Physically, that is.”

Deadpool 3 is being written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick from a previous draft by Bob’s Burgers duo Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously assured fans that it will remain an R-rated film — just like the first two movies, which would make it the studio’s first movie with said mature rating.

It will serve as the first movie in the Deadpool film series to be released following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. The film is currently scheduled to release on November 8, 2024.

The first two Deadpool films are both box-office successes, as they earned a combined worldwide gross of over $1.5 billion. They were both written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, with the first one directed by Tim Miller and Deadpool 2 directed by David Leitch.
