Demian Bichir to Headline Untitled Lowrider Film

Demian Bichir, nominated for an Academy Award for his work in Chris Weitz’s A Better Life, is, according to Variety, negotiating to headline an untitled project about the underground world of lowrider cars. Set up through Blumhouse Productions, Imagine Entertainment and Universal Pictures, the project will mark the directorial debut of Ricardo de Montreuil, best known for his short sci-fi thriller, “The Raven.” Check it out in its entirety in the player below!

Featuring a screenplay by Cheo Hodari Coker, Elgin James, Josh Bierne-Gordon and Justin Tipping, the project is a contemporary tale about a teen whose loyalties are tested when an annual lowrider event forces him to choose between his father (Bichir) and his criminal uncle.

Jason Blum and Brian Grazer will executive produce with Mister Cartoon and Estevan Oriol executive producing. Couper Samuleson will oversee for Blumhouse with Alexandre Dauman doing the same for Imagine.
