The Barbarella movie is currently in the early stages of development. Sweeney is set to take on the titular role of the iconic space adventurer, who was originally portrayed by Jane Fonda in the cult classic 1968 film adaptation. As of now, there is no director or writer attached to the project.

The story follows an astronaut who serves as a representative of the United Earth government. She’s tasked to go on an adventure in search of the scientist Durand Durand, who created a weapon called the Positronic Ray which could potentially endanger the galaxy.
