Warner Bros. Set to Reboot I Am Legend

Despite grossing over half a billion dollars at the global box office, Warner Bros’ 2007 adaptation I Am Legend has never seen a follow up hit theaters, though there have been repeated attempts to bring about a prequel and a sequel to the big screen. Now it seems the studio is going another route as Deadline brings word WB will be rebooting the franchise.

The outlet reports that writer Gary Graham wrote an original screenplay titled “A Garden at the End of the World” which the studio saw as having similar themes and mythology to the film and decided it could be re-written as a reboot of the franchise.

I Am Legend producers Akiva Goldsman, James Lassiter, and Joby Harold are on board to produce once again.

Though it shared a few similarities to the Richard Matheson novel, the Will Smith-starring I Am Legend featured a number of differences from the original text, including the setting, Robert Neville’s occupation, and the crux of the title itself that the main character, as the last person on earth, had become “The Boogeyman.”
