When asked about the status of the Community movie, Harmon said that there’s already a story outline.

“There’s a story — who knows if we’ll end up sticking to it, but it was something we had to compile in order to take it out and court various venues,” Harmon said. “And now negotiations happen.”

Harmon also said that it’s seemingly certain that the movie will happen and that it’s more a matter of timing than of possibility.

“When you put the percentage chances together, it’s like you have to account for maybe the world blowing up or another virus happening,” Harmon warned. “But as far as the industry is concerned, this is a matter of when and not if, for sure.”

Community concluded its acclaimed six-season run in 2015 after jumping across multiple networks. The series has since gained further popularity through streaming services like Netflix, leading many fans to renew the “Six Seasons and a Movie” campaign that spawned from the show itself. Numerous cast members have voiced interest in returning to their roles for a film, meaning it’s a possibility that the majority of the cast could indeed come back for one last hurrah.
