Kevin Feige Responds to Batgirl Cancellation, Supports Directors

The directors of the recently canceled Batgirl film have revealed that Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, reached out to them after the unfortunate news came out.

Adil El Arbi posted a story on his Instagram that shows an email from Feige to him and co-director Bilall Fallah. In the email, Feige congratulates El Arbi on his upcoming wedding and states that the news about Batgirl‘s cancellation was disappointing. Regardless, Feige expressed pride in their work and stated that he looks forward to seeing what’s next for the team.

Feige has worked with El Arbi and Fallah before, as the duo directed two episodes of Ms. Marvel and served as executive producers on the series.

Batgirl was set to star Leslie Grace (In the Heights) in the role of Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Gotham City police commissioner James Gordon. The hero was first seen in the 1967 Batman series with the late Yvonne Craig playing Barbara. Her first comic book appearance was in Detective Comics #357 by writer Gardner Fox and artist Carmine Infantino.
