Written by Kayvion Lewis, Thieves’ Gambit is described as a young adult thriller. The first book in the series is currently set to be published in the autumn of 2023.

Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) is set to direct the motion picture adaptation, while also producing alongside Hodson Exports’ Christina Hodson and producing partner Morgan Howell. Lewis is set to executive produce, while Meredith Wieck and Jon Humphrey will oversee for Lionsgate. Wyck Godfrey, Isaac Klausner, and Annika Patton will oversee for Temple Hill, and Christina Hodson and Morgan Howell will oversee for Hodson Exports.

“Lionsgate, Temple Hill, Hodson Exports, and Steven Caple Jr? Please don’t wake me up from this dream,” Lewis said in a statement following the acquisition. “Temple Hill is one of the heaviest hitters in adapting YA, so I know Thieves’ Gambit would have already been in brilliant hands, but add one of the most iconic studios in Hollywood, an ingenious pro like Christina, and one of the best directors in town too and it’s no wonder I’m questioning if this is reality. Things like this don’t happen to girls like me.”

“Raised by her parents to be an expert thief, a young woman must enter a dangerous, cutthroat competition that pits her against other young, talented thieves where winner takes all,” reads the book’s logline.
