Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Gives First Look at Okoye and Shuri

Not too much is known about the upcoming, highly anticipated sequel to Marvel Studios’ Black Panther, but fans did recently get a good look at two of the main characters in the film.

Upcoming promotional material for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has made its way online, and given fans an early look at returning characters Okoye (Danai Gurira) and Shuri (Letitia Wright), the latter of whom seems to be sporting an entirely new costume. Both characters are seen posing in the now-iconic stance that was introduced in the first film, a salute that members of the nation do to one another.

While the costume and general look of Okoye do not look all that different, Shuri’s is a departure from what fans have seen her wearing in past films. Whether this is an entirely new costume or just some sort of stylish option is unknown, although it has been rumored for some time that Shuri, who is T’Challa’s sister in the film, will be taking up the mantle as the next superhero.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is once again being directed by Ryan Coogler from a screenplay he is co-writing with Joe Robert Cole. It will see the return of most of its original main cast including Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Angela Bassett as Ramonda, Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross, Letitia Wright as Shuri, and Winston Duke as M’Baku.

In addition, Tenoch Huerta (Narcos: Mexico) has reportedly been cast as the upcoming film’s antagonist, with some fans and outlets speculating that he might be playing the role of Namor. I May Destroy You creator-star Michaela Coel has also reportedly signed on for an undisclosed role.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is currently slated to hit theaters on November 11, 2022, over two years following the untimely passing of titular star and acclaimed actor Chadwick Boseman, who died at the age of 43 after his four-year-long private battle with colon cancer.
