In a recent interview with The National Post, Cumberbatch was asked whether or not he could see himself playing the role of Doctor Strange for the next decade. Cumberbatch said that as long as it continues to get more interesting, he would “absolutely” be up for stepping into the role.

“Yeah! Absolutely. Absolutely,” said Cumberbatch. “If they keep me, and it’s interesting, and keep him evolving and try to exercise his full potential as a character, I think there’s a lot of places for him to explore. So yeah, bring it on.”

While Cumberbatch did admit that he plans on “taking a break” now that his turn as Doctor Strange is done for the time being, it seems like the future of the franchise is bright. After an incredible opening preview session at the box office, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is estimated to conclude its opening weekend with somewhere in the range of $198-200 million, which would make it one of the ten best debuts in U.S. history.
