Comedian and Aladdin Star Gilbert Gottfried Passes Away at 67

The comedy world is once again in mourning after the passing of acclaimed comedian Gilbert Gottfried at the age of 67.

“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness,” wrote the Gottfried family in a statement. “In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend, and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor.”

While most famous for his stand-up, Gottfried made plenty of appearances in films including hits such as Beverly Hills Cop II, Aladdin, where he voiced Iago the Parrot, Dr. Dolittle, and Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. The comedian was also famously the voice of the Aflac duck in commercials until 2011. Other iconic voice roles include Kraang Subprime in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Digit LeBold in Cyberchase.

Gottfried was married to Dara Kravitz, who he married in 2007. They have two children together: a daughter Lily and a son named Max.

ComingSoon sends condolences to Gottfried’s family and friends during this time.
