The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo film will be written by Liz Tegelaar (Little Fires Everywhere), who is also working on the series adaptation of another one of Reid’s novels titled Malibu Rising for Hulu. It will be executive produced by Reid and Margaret Chernin, with Liza Chasin of 3Dot Productions and Brad Mendelsohn of Circle of Confusion set as producers.

The novel centers around a legendary Hollywood actress named Evelyn Hugo who enlisted an up-and-coming reporter to tell her life story. “Evelyn recounts her time in the Golden Age of Hollywood, her rise to fame, and her seven marriages — revealing stunning secrets and lies,” reads the synopsis. “But through it all one question remains: Why has she chosen Monique for her final confession?”
