In a recent post on Instagram, artist Keith Christensen shared various designs he had worked on for the unreleased film, including full Batman suits, helmets, and concept art for Deathstroke. The assassin would have been played by Joe Manganiello, as the actor appeared as the character in a brief cameo in 2017’s Justice League.

The history of Ben Affleck’s Batman film is a bit of a complicated one, with Affleck being cast as the Caped Crusader in 2013, appearing in various DC Extended Universe films, including Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and Justice League.

A standalone Batman film — that director Matt Reeves called “almost James Bond-ian” in January — was planned to be written and directed by Affleck, but Affleck reportedly began to have reservations on the film, and eventually stepped down as director but planned to still star and produce, but eventually left the project altogether due to a variety of factors. Despite no longer playing Batman, Affleck will appear in the upcoming The Flash film, with star Ezra Miller even recently teasing that Affleck isn’t done playing the iconic hero.
