Bill Murray to Voice Baloo in Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book

The legendary Bill Murray has joined the cast of Walt Disney Pictures’ upcoming The Jungle Book! He’ll provide the voice of Baloo in the Jon Favreau film.

Murray joins Academy Award winners Ben Kingsley, Lupita Nyong’o and Christopher Walken as the voices of Bagheera, Raksha and King Louie, respectively, Golden Globe winner Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa and newcomer Neel Sethi as Mowgli.

The Jungle Book is a combination of live-action and animation, directed by Favreau from a script by Justin Marks. The film will be released in 3D and arrives in theaters on October 9, 2015.

Word of Murray’s involvement comes on the heels of word that Warner Bros. Pictures’ own take on the material, set to be directed by Andy Serkis, will now be titled The Jungle Book: Origins and will hit theaters on October 21, 2016, more than a year after Disney’s version.
