Naomi Watts is in talks to star opposite the previously-attached Jake Gyllenhaal in Dallas Buyers Club helmer Jean-Marc Vallée’s next project, Demolition. Th Wrap has the news, reporting that Watts would play the film’s female lead.
Demolition, which began as a Black List screenplay by Bryan Sipe, follows an investment banker (Gyllenhaal) whose life begins to unravel following the tragic loss of his wife. His destructive path begins to turn around, however, after a chance encounter with a single mother (Watts).
Mr. Mudd’s Russell Smith is attached to produce alongside Lianne Halfon and John Malkovich. Jason Reitman, Helen Estabrook and Nathan Ross will executive produce.
