Jessica Henwick Opens Up About Potential Colleen Wing MCU Return

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actress Jessica Henwick revealed that she turned down a role in this year’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings specifically due to her past roles in the Netflix Marvel television series.

Henwick — who played Colleen Wing in both Iron Fist and The Defenders — was up for the role of Shang-Chi’s sister, Xialing, in the hit film. However, Henwick said she ended up passing on the role because it would have effectively ended any chance of Colleen Wing returning.

“If I did [Shang-Chi], I would effectively be putting Colleen to bed. It wasn’t the main factor, but it definitely came up in conversation,” Henwick said. “I love Colleen. She changed my life. Of course, if I was given the opportunity to revisit her, I would, but I just don’t know how likely that is. Charlie [Cox] knew about that opportunity years ago. He already knew it was happening. I think I would have heard by now if there were any plans with Colleen.”

While characters like Daredevil and Kingpin have recently made their way back into the world of the MCU, it’s unknown if Wing would be next. If she isn’t, Henwick said she’s still happy with how her character’s arc ended in the series.

“That would be cool! If it was the right moment, the right project, for sure. I love Colleen. But we’ll see. I gave her a happy ending,” Henwick said. “She’s happily living in New York with Misty [Simone Missick]. They’re running their own business together. So she’s good where she is as well.”
